Alternatives to consume better

Second hand, recycling and upcycling...

It's been two years now since I stopped consuming fast fashion. I was very attached to it, because I like fashion a lot but I have a small budget when it comes to buying clothes and especially the latest collections to shop at the big fast fashion brands names such as the Inditex group with its unavoidable Zara, Pull&Bear, Bershka and Stradivarius, or Nike, Uniqlo, Pretty Little Thing, Miss Guided, Boohoo and so on. The thing that got me over the hump was when a member of the French parliament named Raphael Glucksmann published the "list of shame" where a hundred shops I used to shop at were accused of using Uighurs as modern slaves in fast fashion factories.

Now I’d rather fight against overconsumption and fast fashion. I buy clothes only when I really need something, not for the pleasure of buying and accumulating too many things anymore.

  1. Vinted : people sell their clothes on this famous application. You can search for whatever you need using keywords.

  2. Upcycling : when a pantalon or a tee-shirt doesn’t fit me well, but I used to really like to wear it, I take it to the dressmaker.

  3. Recycling : second hand shops

  4. Find brand aligns with your values

Here is my favorite safe shopping places :
